My ramblings of a mad world we live in. And some other helpfull topics will be added from time to time.

Why we Need to Take Risks.

Why we Need to Take Risks

It does not matter if you are a Doctor, a Lawyer or an infantry soldier in the Army if you want to be the best and get ahead, you will need to take risks.

A doctor may have to take risks when working with a patient. The Doctor may have to experiment with different forms of medications or new surgical procedures when all else has failed in an attempt to help the patient.

A lawyer may have to argue a case in an unorthodox manner to win the case, but if the lawyer wants to become the top lawyer and make millions of dollars fighting high profile cases lots of risks have to be taken.

A soldier may have to take a risk and run thru gunfire to save another injured soldier, to complete their mission, or just to secure an area from being overrun by enemy troops, after going days with little to no sleep, but if a soldier wants to get promotions and eventually lead men into battle they also need to take risks.

These risks are not unlike someone looking to get rich in a casino, they have to be willing to risk everything they have to get that million dollar payoff. If you play it safe in a casino you may get lucky and win a big jackpot on the slot machines, but if you want to make millions you are going to have to play games such as Poker, Blackjack, Roulette are the games that with some skill, some luck and a lot of risk taking you can retire off your winnings.

The same can be said about life in general. No one gets ahead in life from playing it safe. You will not meet your special someone if you are too afraid to risk getting rejected by someone, you will never get that big promotion unless you take risks at your job.

It is very important to continue to take risks in life. To stop taking risks means to stand still in life. Standing still in life is one of the main causes of depression. These are usually the people afraid to confront the boss and tell him that they demand a raise; they are the ones that allow life to pass them by out of fear. The entire purpose of fear is to stop you from taking a risk.

Fear is nothing more then the unknown. If you have always wanted to quit your job and open a shop but you are too afraid to do it, this is because you are afraid of failing and risking what you already have.

It is important to learn to take risks in life if you want to be happy, you may not always get the things you risked for, but you will know that you tried, and in the end it does not matter in my opinion if you succeed or not it is how many risks you try to make that is the real test of how successful you are.

Just remember if no one took risks we would be a world without flight and probably no automotive vehicles at all, maybe we would have no electricity. So risk truly is needed to improve the world.

  1. One Very Inspiring Blogger Award coming your way! Link and post on 10th July xxx

      • Absolutely, I am presenting you with the aforementioned accolade, please place it wherever you see fit 😉

      • WOW!!!! Thanks, my first award…*sobs* Where do i get the link for it?

      • …orchestra starts playing LOUDLY… I’ve got a post scheduled for the 10th which will list the Award Rules (in the meantime if you click the link for The Versatile Blogger Award down at the bottom of the sidebar on my homepage the rules are listed there and they are just the same).
You could copy and paste a pic of the Inspiring Blogger Certificate from the bottom of my sidebar or just search Google images. Then you can put it on your own site.
Clear as mud! Let me know if you’ve any more questions and I’ll do my best to answer.
You deserve the award, I really appreciate your wit and support xx

      • Thanks, i will do that.

      • The link to the very inspiring blogger on your home page side bar fails to ope. The versatile blogger awards do open. Can u say what is wrong?

      • The Versatile Blogger is the only one with a link (there doesn’t seem to be an “official” info site for the inspiring award I’m afraid). The rules are the same for both awards though 🙂

      • O, okay. So i just need to put the image on my blog with the rules?

      • I just go with 1. Put the image on your site (cut and paste is easiest/image url) 2. Write a post about your award linking to the person who gave it to you 3. Hand out awards to inspiring blogs you like (usually 10) drop them a message to let them know and write a post linking to their blogs. 4. Write 10 interesting things about yourself.
The various blog awards seem to have slightly different rules (folks probably change/mix them up too). My personal preference is to give out 7 awards and write 7 facts. I wish the rules were the same for all!

      • Thanks, i am busy with the post as we speak. Thanks again, i am honored.

      • I always like to see your giraffes is my comment box 🙂 My post linking to my winners is coming out on the 10th. I’m sure you’ll catch it x

      • No, unfortunately not. I will be off at that time. I like coming to your blog, it is very versatile.

  2. howdy…cant reply to your last comment as the field gets smaller and smaller until the reply button dissapears……..i agree that war is pointless and makes more problems but im afraid it appears to be part and parcel of human nature……..fog of war will always be and fancy tech will continue to have “colateral”….play with dangerous toys and it only a matter of time until you hurt yourself.;………..

    • And they did, lol! But on a serious note, yes, look here in Africa, things are on a downward spiral. In fighting happens every day. Wish the English could just step up again and claim some Africa lands as there own. I believe it went better in some Africa country`s where the British ruled.

      • haha…may dad always said that…..he said 1961 was the worst thing that ever happened to south africa……but history is not gonna repeat (not in our lifetime)…maybe the chinese…….but if africa dont get some type of act together i can forsee them being a continent of slaves for many generations……….perhaps not direct colonization but some form of psuedo independent proxy states…………..lets face it the wars going on in sudan, chad and generally the whole central africa are limited scale proxy wars …..oil related……..the cold war all over again………………just one important thought….if the global war for superiority hots up does cape town still qualify as an important naval base?…….would this naval base be worth instigating a proxy civil war over?….i think as chinese naval power increases it may well be….civil war in south africa….independant western cape with armed support with simonstown as a prize?…….you get my drift……

      • Yes, i get it. A scary thought. China has a big take in what happens in Africa. I mean, they basically own Zimbabwe and they have a big slice of the cake in South-Africa. Cape town a naval base, hahaha! Sorry for laughing, but our whole fleet will fit on one U.S war ship. But, strategic wise, it can play a important role in war.

  3. i was not thinking about our fleet…more like USS enterprize and its entorage of god knows how many other ships, submarines etc….not to mention dedicated sattelites……. docked, based and operating out of cape town……………..interesting thought indeed……..thats how a minority can win a war.
